Britax Advocate CS Carseat - Moonstone
The Britax Advocate CS Car Seat features Side Impact Cushion Technology. These patented exterior energy-management cushions compress upon impact to protect both the child and adjacent passengers in the event of a side impact crash. This compression provides an increased level of side impact protection. The Britax Advocate CS will also feature the Click & SafeSnug Harness Indicator.
Unlike vehicle air bags which inflate, the Britax Advocate CS side impact cushions are designed to manage the crash forces by compressing upon impact while safely expelling air through strategically positioned vents.
The Britax Advocate CS is very similar to the Britax Boulevard CS. The key change is the addition of side impact air cushions on each side of the shell. These air filled, rubber cushions will absorb crash energy from a side impact by automatically inflating. They’re also a lot softer for an adjacent child to hit in a crash, compared to a hard plastic shell that could cause damage to the child sitting next them in a booster seat or no seat at all.
A few points to consider before purchasing this carseat:
The side cushions make it a bit harder to access the shoulder belt lockoff and harness height adjustment knob if space in your vehicle is tight. The cushions also make the Advocate wider (only a bit less than 1/2 ")than the Boulevard. However, it is enough of a difference that it could create a problem fitting the Advocate next to another child restraint. This would be something to consider if you have a 3-across or side-by-side installation. If not, the Advocate CS is a top choice for side impact protection! |
